Goal:

The goal of this project is to provide nurses, information about total hip and knee replacements, including

·        The effects of arthritis on joints.

·        Indications for surgery.

·        Surgical management.

·        Nursing Implications- patient teaching aimed at preventing complications and improving outcomes.

       

 

        Objectives:

        By the end of this learning experience, you will be able to

·        Describe the effects of arthritis on the hip and knee joints.

·        State indications for total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

·        Discuss the surgical procedures used in THA and TKA.

·        Identify five specific potential complications associated with total hip replacements, and total knee replacements.

·        Identify nursing interventions for actual and potential problems and complications associated with THA and TKA patients.

 

This multimedia project was created to provide a site with a different presentation modality we nurses are used to, one that hopefully engages more senses, is fun, and one that addresses the learning needs of more people.
