Introduction

This website was designed for the class Technology in the Curriculum at the Ramapo College of NJ, Master of Science in Educational Technology Program. This course was designed to teach educators on the use of various computer programs and technologies in teaching and learning in the classrooms.

This project was designed as an In-Service Education Unit for nurses in the Perioperative and Critical Care Units.
The class is a four hour course held in the one of the institution's learning center classrooms that will be equipped with computers, at the least, for a 2 student per computer ratio.
The class' main purpose is to raise the awareness of staff in dealing with Malignant Hyperthermia, a rare but potentially deadly complication for diagnosed and undiagnosed MH susceptible patients when exposed to certain common anesthesia agents.

Students will learn the Malignant Hyperthermia syndrome, the MH etiology, pathophysiology, clinical signs and symptoms, differential diagnosis, precautionary measures necessary to insure a positive outcome, what an MH cart should consist of, other equipment and supplies that will be needed in an MH Crisis, team action and roles of each team member in MH Crisis management, treatment protocols, precautions (preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative) and nursing interventions for all patients through early recognition and treatment of MH.

This website will showcase student project samples- their Power Point, brochure and website, student and teacher support materials and evaluation tools.

Technology tools that students will use include Microsoft Power Point, Publisher and Word.
Students will use computers for research for some of the topics for their projects.
