Nurses…

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to save the life of a critically ill obstetric patient seeking care at your health care institution.
Your team will include a labor and delivery nurse and a critical care nurse who will work together to prepare a plan of care for a laboring woman who arrives at your institution in acute distress, requiring stabilization, delivery of her child, and emergent transfer to the intensive care unit.
The labor and delivery nurse’s area of expertise is in the comprehensive care of the laboring mother, newborn and the birthing process.
The critical care nurse is extensively trained in the care of patients in acute distress requiring immediate, specialized treatments, monitoring and stabilization.
A coordinated plan of care, intrapartum and postpartum, could mean the difference between life and death for your patient.
