Dietitian

As a Dietitian your role is crucial in helping the MI patient understand the special dietary needs that they will have to adhere to in order to maintain a good cholesterol level and prevention of a reoccurring MI.  Patients that have poor eating habits will find the transition difficult.

Want to become an expert Dietitian? Answer the following questions:

1.) Define: Trans fatty acids, saturated fats, polyunsaturated fats, monosaturated hydrogenated fats and describe how they effect the cholesterol levels.

2.) Define HDL/LDL and explain what effect that they have on the heart; and what are normal cholesterol values?

3.) What is the recommended caloric intake according to gender, age and activity levels?

4.) What type of diet should a patient recovering from an MI have, and give a sample of a meal plan.

5.) Identify the appropriate servings from each food group that an MI patient would benefit from.
