Introduction

Francesca needs help!

Francesca was walking home from school last Monday and heard a small bark from behind some bushes! When she looked behind the bushes, she saw a little brown and white dog wagging his tail at her. He was a little scared at first but eventually came over to her. She looked for a collar but he had none. She picked him up and when he looked up at her with his big brown eyes, she fell in love and decided to take him home. Her mom was surprised of course and told Francesca he may be lost. They called the police department and the local shelter, but no one had reported a dog with this pups description. A few days later, her mom receives a phone call from the police that the dog's owner has been found. Francesca really liked having the dog for those few days and now wants one of her own, but her mom isn't sure she is ready. Her mom knows that having a pet is a big responsibility. There's a lot involved in taking good care of a pet. Her mom explains some of the most important things she'd be responsible for and tells her that if she does some research to find a dog that is suitable for their family, she would consider getting a dog.

Francesca still thinks she can handle it, but wants to be certain she is really ready. Is she? Be the detective that researches information for Francesca.
