Objectives

  • to develop an understanding and appreciation of different customs

  • to support the writing process by using technology

  • to locate and interpret information using research and literature about countries and customs

Bloom's Taxonomy

Knowledge:  Identify Christmas customs and traditions in different countries

Comprehension:  Describe the different symbols of the traditions and what they mean

Application:  Show how these traditions are celebrated in your country

Analysis:  Arrange a celebration for Christmas using your researched information

Synthesis:  Plan the celebration as if you were living in the country you researched

Evaluation:  Decide what information you want to include and write a diary entry presenting what you have learned

Core Curriculum Standards

STANDARD 3.2 (WRITING) ALL STUDENTS WILL WRITE IN CLEAR, CONCISE, ORGANIZED LANGUAGE THAT VARIES IN CONTENT AND FORM FOR DIFFERENT AUDIENCES AND PURPOSES.

STANDARD 6.3 (WORLD HISTORY) ALL STUDENTS WILL DEMONSTRATE KNOWLEDGE OF WORLD HISTORY IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND LIFE AND EVENTS IN THE PAST AND HOW THEY RELATE TO THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE.

STANDARD 8.1 (COMPUTER AND INFORMATION LITERACY ) ALL STUDENTS WILL USE COMPUTER APPLICATIONS TO GATHER AND ORGANIZE INFORMATION AND TO SOLVE PROBLEMS.
