Setting Up and Calibrating a Portable SMART Board

***There are a few simple steps that you need to follow before using the portable SMART Board.***

 

Setting Up

 

1.  Place the LCD projector cart within 10 feet of the SMART Board.

 
   

2.  Plug in 3 things:  Electricity (black cord from the cart)

(plug into a blue D wall jack)

White cable into the SMART Board

3.  Turn on the computer and LCD projector.

 
   

4.  Make sure there is at least a 2 inch border around the inside of the SMART Board when the projector shines on it.

 
   

5.  Lock the wheels on the cart and SMART Board.

 
 

 

 

 

Calibrate the SMART Board

 
   

1.  Pick up the SMART Board pen located on the pen tray at the bottom of the SMART Board.  If the pen is in the charging slot, it will not have to be plugged in.

         If the pen is not in the charging slot, place the pen in the slot.  2 minutes will give you about a 20 minute charge.  (If the pen does not charge, then the pen will need to be plugged directly into the SMART Board using the black coiled cord as shown in the picture above.)

2.  Once the pen has charged or you've plugged it in, use the SMART Board pen to click on the bottom icon located on the left edge of the SMART Board.

3. Using the SMART Board pen, click the word Calibrate on the bottom edge of the SMART Board.

4. Using the SMART Board pen, carefully click on the center of each of the plus signs that appear on the SMART Board.

5.  Once you have clicked on all of the plus signs, use the SMART Board pen to click OK at the bottom of the SMART Board.

You are now ready to go to work.  Open up any SMART Board document the same way as on your classroom computer using the SMART Board pen.
