Procedure

You will be divided  into teams of four. Each team member will be given a job. The four jobs will be Researcher, Recorder, Architect, and Presenter.

  • The Researcher will be responsible for finding the internet sites that have the content to answer the questions pertaining to this assignment.

  • The Recorder will be responsible for recording the findings on the Data Collection Sheet.

  • The Architect will be responsible for designing the habitat that will enable life on Mars. Such as designing a device to control the temperature.

  • The presenter will be responsible for presenting the findings to NASA. Although each member has a specific job title, all members should work collaboratively.

Once all team members have been given their jobs, you will then proceed to complete your assignment. Please follow the steps below.

First, begin by researching the elements that make it possible for life to exist on Earth. The elements that should be researched are; oxygen, food resources, temperature regulation, and water resources.

Your research should answer the following questions:

  • What is oxygen?

  • How can oxygen can be created on Mars?

  • Which hearty plants can be grown for a source of food?

  • What conditions can make it  possible for these particular plants to grow ?

  • What type of device is needed to control temperature on Mars?

  • How would you transport a large quantity of water to Mars?

  • How can the water be desalinated if it is ocean water?

Once you have answered all of these important questions your team should then proceed to the replicating process. At this point, you should determine and design the ways or devices that will make it possible to create the necessary living conditions on Mars. You can do this by creating models, drawing sketches or pictures, and or any other creative ways that come to mind.

Now, it's time to convince NASA that your research findings are accurate and that your ideas can in fact make it possible for life to exist on Mars.
