The Historian will take a look at past hydrological issues on three levels:
The World ~ Take a look at some historical examples of water shortages around the world. What was the response to these issues? Was the response a success or failure?
The Southwest United States ~ What events determined the distribution of water amongst the Southwestern States? Who were the big winners and losers?
Las Vegas ~ How has Las Vegas grown as a city? What effects has regional water usage had on the city of Las Vegas?
The answers to these questions will provide the team with the background knowledge needed to evaluate past water shortages and the responses to them. Also, you will be able to explain to the team the history of water usage in the Southwest, and how this has effected the Las Vegas area. This will be related to the current issue at hand, and will go towards formulating a solution to the problem.
