Five Scientific Perspectives of Iceland |
![]() |
| In this website a student
investigator will be able to read about the country of Iceland. Iceland
will be introduced through five different scientific perspectives:
geography, environment, climate, flora, and fauna. These particular
perspectives are introduced because they contain specific factors that
make the country scientifically unique. This narrative is intended to provide a basic overview of Iceland so that a student investigator has some prior background knowledge about the scientific perspectives of the country prior to being introduced to the group study. In the Research Science I Honors 2007 Group Study, students will participate in a collaborative research investigation using data collected by a team of scientists led by Research Science teacher, Erin Colfax, on an expedition to Iceland in the summer of 2007. The objective of this project is for students and educators to partake in an investigation of Iceland, where poetry is used as a means of describing the environment by incorporating quantitative and qualitative data. This project is intended to formulate a connection between literature and science and attempts to prove that poetry that incorporates quantitative and qualitative data can increase one’s understanding of scientific information.
