  Rachel is interested in foods from four different time periods in history:   Plymouth Colony, Revolutionary War, Lewis and Clark, and Civil War.  Working with your group you will be required to integrate historical information about how the food was gathered or hunted, grown, and prepared.   
  • Your first  job is to read the Historical Time Periods page.
  • After deciding on your individual roles answer the questions on the Culinary Historian page.
  • Your team's job is to develop a nutritionally balanced and historically informative menu from your time period incorporating four recipes that create a complete meal with ingredients and equipment/utensils that were available during your time period.
  • Your team will also present your menu in a 8 - 10 minute oral presentation to Rachael's executive producer.  

The content of the menu and presentation must include:

  • Available food resources

  • Recipe selection

  • Available cooking utensils 

  • Available cooking methods

  • Nutritional facts

  • Summary
