Communities nationwide are reporting outbreaks of staphylococcous aureaus skin infections, many of which are MRSA infections. There have even been reported deaths from these infections.This contagious disease has now invaded our school and we want to prevent it from spreading to our other students. If it has spread to our school it has the potential to invade other schools as well. We also want to prevent this from happening so as senior nursing students studying Community Health you will have the opportunity to educate your fellow nursing students and also younger students of the nearby 6th grade Middle School about MRSA and how to prevent it from spreading.

For this WebQuest you will use the Internet to research different aspects of MRSA individually as well as in a small group. You will be responsible for completing the following tasks:

• Assemble a fact sheet about this infectious disease process for your fellow nursing students.

• Design a 30 minute lesson plan for the 6th grade students on how to prevent MRSA.

• Create an activity for the students to do which is reflective of your lesson plan. The Middle School principal has given you permission to utilize the school's audio/visual technology if you wish.
