Purpose: Test the Resume,
Edit and Recheck
Before you start applying for jobs, you need advice and feedback. Begin with friends, relatives, parents. Seniors visit the Career Services Office, and then test the resume with an employment agency and an informational interview in a company or agency. Field test your resume with someone who works in your desired field.
One Minute Scan Test
Hand a resume to friends and relative. Let them read it and then tell you in one minute what they learned form the resume. Evaluate what they say and compare it to what you think you are saying about you. Hint: The 3 things that you want the employer to know should be what they tell you.
Collect Feedback from informational interviews, Career Services, parents
Field Test
Show people in the field that you want to go into and ask for an evaluation
Employers screen resumes for between 2.5 and 20 seconds, a resume must show the employer in this amount of time what you want to do and what you're good at.
