Proposal for Design Project:
The Lotus Center

My website is designed to advertise and inform current and new patients about the Lotus Center. The mission of the center is to empower the individual to activate their own inner healing mechanisms and growth within a warm nurturing environment. The primary concern is for the patient’s physical, mental and spiritual comfort. The website serves to provide knowledge and describe the Lotus Center to new patients who are not familiar with Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs, Energy Therapy and Yoga. For patients in treatment, the website is a resource for information: frequently asked questions, information to download, websites to visit and links to products and services.

Audience
This website will be advertised on the business cards and appointment cards and used by current patients. Current patients often recommend the center and pass the cards to friends, neighbors and coworkers. These prospective patients have the opportunity to make a virtual visit to the Lotus Center prior to making an appointment. The link will also appear on promotional materials distributed during lectures, presentations and events where there is an opportunity to advertise to new clients.

Expectations
As a result of the visit to the website, the users will increase their knowledge and understanding of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine as well as feeling more comfortable in seeking treatment to solve their health issues. Users will return to the site for additional information and instruction as they begin the process of exploration and want to learn more about what they can do to heal themselves.

Body

The colors were chosen after research on the website below. The overall feel is calm and healing. The banner color is warm and was chosen to represent the color of  the lotus flower after which the center was named. The color is in line with the mission of the center to provide a warm and nurturing environment. The side bar color was chosen as a complementary color to the banner but in a darker value to provide visual contrast. The font color is black for ease of reading on the color scheme. The body is white, where the fonts and images appear,  for optimum contrast and ease of viewing on any browser.
