| Visual and Performing Arts | Grade: HS 11-12; College |
| Standard 1.1 Aesthetics | All students will use
aesthetic knowledge in the creation of and in response to dance,
music, theater, and visual art. Students observe elements of sculpture and respond orally during discussion and graphically through writing and chooses images in PowerPoint and papers. |
| Standard 1.4 Critique | All students will
develop. apply and reflect upon knowledge of the process of
critique. Students will examine artwork through the web and compare different historical periods. They will categorize artistic subjects, and structure and influences. They will critique their classmates' papers according to specified criteria and offer suggestions for improvement. |
| Standard 1.5 History/Culture | All students will
understand and analyze the role, development, and continuing
influence of the arts in relation to world cultures, history, and
society. Students will look for relationships and stylistic characteristics among historical events and art: present their ideas in class discussion and blogs. They will analyze the influences the have today in relation to culture. |
| Social Studies | Grade: HS 11-12; College |
| Standard 6.1 Skills | All students will
utilize historical thinking, problem solving, and research skills to
maximize their understanding of civics, history, geography, and
economics. Students will use research skills and technology to "visit" a place and past time period to gather information and examine data from historical, geographic, and artistic points of view. |
| Standard 6.3 World History | All students will
demonstrate knowledge of world history in order to understand life
and events in the past and how they relate to the past, present, and
future. Students will demonstrate what they have learned in verbal, written, and visual formats and relate it to current and past time periods. |
| Standard 6.6 Geography | All students will
apply knowledge of spatial relationships and other geographic skills
to understand human behavior in relation to the physical and
cultural environment. Through the use of maps and technology students will demonstrate their understanding of the interconnectedness of geography, history and culture in their presentations, papers, and discussions. |
