Plant Life in the Rainforest

About Plant life in the Rainforest

All plants have seeds that help to make new plants.  Seeds are spread throughout the rainforest in different ways. Sometimes they are spread by animals, other times by wind, and sometimes by water.  Birds help to spread seeds when they eat fruit.  Animals may spit the seeds out when eating fruit. Often the seed fall to the ground to plant a new plant. Many seeds and nuts are eaten by people and animals.

There are many spices that come from the rainforest.  Some are known to you.  They are cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger.  These and other spices are used throughout the world.

Deforestation is the cutting down of trees.  Land development and lumbering are causing the rain forests to become smaller every day.  The loss of rain forest land is a concern for people all around the world. Deforestation puts animals and plant species at risk of becoming extinct without their nature environment.
