About Nutmeg

The nutmeg fruit grows on an evergreen tree found in tropical rainforests. The seed found inside the fruit is used to make the spice nutmeg, used in cooking and baking.

In England in Medieval times, nutmeg was once one of the most valuable spices. Selling a few nutmeg nuts could be sold for enough money for life!

Although it is often used in cooking, nutmeg can be dangerous in large amounts. A person can grow very sick if they ingest a lot of nutmeg. They may become dehydrated, nauseous, have convulsions or heart palpitations, and extreme body pain. These effects can last for days.
