Write a Poem:

Choose one of the types of poems to show your understanding of the rainforest animal you choose. Use your note-cards to include details.

 

Cinquain Poem

A cinquain is a five lined poem that follows a pattern.

  • The first line is a one word title.

  • The second line has two words that describe (adjectives) the title.

  • The third line has three action words.

  • The fourth line has four words that express a feeling.

  • The fifth line is one word that means the same as the title.

Haiku Poem

A Haiku is a type of poem that originated (began in) Japan. The Haiku poem does not ryme. They are usually about things in nature such as animals, plants, or water. The poems create a picture in your mind or a feeling in your soul. They are simple, but to the point.

A haiku only has three lines.

  • Line one has 5 syllables.

  • Line two has 7 syllables.

  • Line three has 5 syllables.

Concrete Poem

A concret poem is created like a work of art. The poet or artist uses a shape to give their poems more meaning. This poem may rhyme, but it does not have to.
