you haven't read the book, here is a summary so you can fake your way
through it!
Background The story of Charlotte's Web is the story of a little girl named Fern who loves a little pig named Wilbur- and one of Wilbur's dear friend Charlotte A. Cavatica, a beautiful large grey spider who lived with Wilbur in the barn. With the help of Templeton, the rat who never did anything for anybody unless there was something in it for him, and by a wonderfully clever plan of her own, Charlotte saved the life of Wilbur, who by this time had grown up to be quite a pig. The first
thing you should know, is that the children will complete most of the
project in school. There may be times when they are required to take
a portion of the assignment home. The following tips may help you
for those times.
1. When the children are answering the questions to the spider research section, help them read through the internet material, but do not give them the answer. Lead them to it. When checking over their answers, prompt them to tell you whether or not a sentence sounds right or if the correct punctuation is evident. 2. The children will probably have to complete parts of the Guide to the Farm at home. Again, you may proofread their work for mistakes, but do it with them and ask them questions like, "Does that really end with a period? I thought it was a question." That way this will allow them to build proofreading skills. 3. For the third part, sit down and talk with your child about a eulogy. Explain to them further what it is and what it represents. With your guidance, your children will have a more enjoyable experience with Charlotte's Web!
