PROJECT DESCRIPTION

  1. Click on the GIS map link to locate four mathematicians (two male/two female) from around the world in relation to their place of birth. ** No mathematician can be from the same country **

  2. Once you have located the four mathematicians, research the following about each mathematician:

    Name
    Gender
    Picture
    Date & place of birth
    Date& place of death
    Brief description of the time period that they were born in
    Educational background
    Field of mathematical study
    Description of that study
    Contributions to the field of mathematics
    Contributions to fields other than mathematics (if any)
    Struggles they may had to overcome (if any)
    A quotation that they may be known for

  3. Print out four invidiual worksheets from your computer. Use these forms to write out the information that you researched. **Hand writing must be in PRINT**

  4. Create your own title page and works cited page. The works cited page must be completed in MLA format & your title page must include:

    Title for Project
    Picture (other than the one that is on the GIS map site)
    Your Name
    Teacher's Name
    Date that project is due
    Class Period
  5. Write a 1-2 page double spaced reflection paper.Briefly describe why you chose the mathematicians and which one you found the most interesting (and why). Also describe how you felt about doing the project and what you have learned from it.

  6. Take this information and make a PowerPoint presentation that you will present to the class.

  7. Hand in your title page, mathematician forms, and works cited page. ** Make sure they are stapled together**
