1. You will be working in cooperative groups of three where you will be assigned a city to research. Click on the name of the city to locate where it is in California. 

    Group A - Los Angeles, California

    Group B - San Francisco, California

    Group C - Pasadena, California

    Group D - Sacramento, California

    Group E - Oakland, California

    Group F - Parkfield, California

2. Each person in the group will choose one of the following roles.  You will each read and take notes on the information using the links:

    Safety Inspector - Responsible for making sure the city has safety procedures in case of an earthquake.

    Geologist - Studies the fault lines located under the city to predict when the next earthquake will occur.

    Historian - Researches the history of earthquakes in each specific city.

3. As part of your job, you are responsible for answering three questions about your city.  You will report back to the other group members and fill out a graphic organizer.  Your group will also be responsible for a presentation including an informational poster to your teacher and to the class to help make the final decision about where your teacher should move. 

4. During your presentation, your classmates will be filling in a worksheet with the information that you present.  After listening to all the reports, each student will write two paragraphs stating their case of which city is the safest to live in. 

5. You will be graded on your individual work as well as the presentation.  Do your best work throughout the whole process, your teacher is counting on you!
