This webquest used a plethora of teaching styles, strategies and activities to meet the needs of all students.

LEARNING STYLES:

Abstract Sequential Learner: researching assigned region and specific task, gathering information, and using their fact to formulate their own conclusions

Abstract Random Learner: working collaboratively with others, listening to final presentations and following general guidelines

Concrete Sequential Learner: using the organized worksheets, creating the brochure and physical map and following detail instructions and rubric

Concrete Random Learner: using a real world situation, Internet exploration with many choices and their creative talents to accomplish class projects and presentation

MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES:

Visual/Spatial: reading, writing, researching, compiling information in worksheet charts and looking at pictures

Verbal/Linguistic: listening, speaking and convincing during the class presentations

Logical/Mathematical: categorizing information and problem solving during group activities

Bodily/Kinesthetic: creating the physical map and performing during the class presentations

Musical/Rhythmic: using their musical ability during class presentations

Interpersonal: working collaboratively with peers on all group projects

Intrapersonal: working on individual assignments and understanding their role in relationship to others

EMOTIONS:

The Introduction plays a major role with students’ emotions. Since students relate extremely well with television, they would actively engage in exploring New Jersey Regions to secure a spot on a TV show. Having the Governor of New Jersey in this web quest makes it a real world situation. Competition among groups makes this both a fun and challenging activity.

RETENTION:

Long-term retention is accomplished through rehearsal.  This is accomplished during collaborative group work, note-taking, organizing information, creating brochures, building the region maps, and creating the commercial presentation.

BLOOM’S TAXONOMY:

The Task, Process and Evaluation of the web quest were created to include all aspects of Bloom's Taxonomy.  The following are examples for each domain.

Knowledge: identifying the regions of New Jersey

Comprehension: describing the various landforms, water forms, occupations, historical sites and recreational activities found throughout New Jersey

Application: generating a Kidspiration web to include relevant information

Analysis: comparing the various New Jersey regions according to researched topics

Synthesis: reconstructing a physical map of New Jersey with all regions

Evaluation: persuading classmates why their region is unique via i-movie commercials
