Step 4: Each person in your group must choose one of the following areas to invest.

Each person will choose three stocks from their category and collect data daily for one week. Use the following websites to check on your stocks every day at the open and close of the day. Use this spreadsheet to chart the data for your three stocks.

Step 5: Group Consultation. Discuss in your group each of your stocks.  Determine positive and negative aspects for each stock and for each industry. Decide if you want a lot of risk or if you should be conservative with your money.

Use the following graphic organizer to take notes on all of your partners’ stocks and to organize your thoughts on each industry.


Step 6: Create a PowerPoint presentation with your group that addresses the following questions. Power Points will be presented as a group in class.

  • What industry did you choose to invest in?
  • How did you choose the industry?
  • What factors affected your group’s decisions?
  • How much overall gain did this industry provide you with?
  • Finally, conclude by explaining why your parents should let you invest the money.
