Module 2: Flash Movie

Following are instructions for creating a flash move that can be embedded in the HTML page. Before starting with Flash, please have your video file ready and easy to find on the local computer. The screen shots will display steps taken in the process. At the end a Flash movie will guide you through the entire process.

Flash Steps:

  1. Start Flash CS3
  2. Open a new document by selecting File -> New -> Flash File (ActionsScript 3.0)
  3. Select File -> Import -> Import Video…
  4. Browse to the video file and select Next button
  5. On the next window, leave the default  option and select Next button
  6. On the Encoding window, change the options or leave default values and select Next button.
  7. Under Skin drop down menu select the look and positioning of the Falsh movie controls. Once selected, click on Next button
  8. Select Finish button
  9. Save the Flash file in to a director for your site
  10. It might take few minutes for Flash to encode the video
  11. Under Control menu, select Test Movie or press Ctrl + Enter. This will export the .swf Flash file.
  12. Save and Exit Flash.

Dreamweaver Steps:

  1. Start Dreamweaver and open a page where the Flash movie will be embedded
  2. Under Insert menu, select Media -> Flash
  3. Navigate to the Flash .swf file
  4. Add a title and appropriate accessibility options, and select OK
  5. This will embed the flash file on the page. Test the page in the browser
