Your Arts Organization, Teach Art Across America will need to organize a one-hour presentation to the high school that is being visited. To cover all six of the painting movements or “isms” in art, you will need to organize into 6 different teams. This will done by lottery until each of the 6 teams have an equal number of students. Each team will have 5 members and will give a 10-minute educational power point presentation and quiz on: Surrealism, Cubism, Abstract-Impressionism, Impressionism, Expressionism, and Minimalism. Your team will also be creating a poster design highlighting key artists and key paintings within the movement. This poster will be diplayed during the power point presentation and will be available as a resource to the students that you are presenting to during the quiz. Each team will complete the presentation by covering all points as detailed in the evaluation rubric.
Power Point team presentation:
Within each team of 5 members, you will be assigned to research one of the major painters within each movement. Students will grab a name of an artist from a hat.
• Each team’s power point presentation must be 10 minutes in length and contain 10 slides:
• Each slide must include a visual image of a particular painting within the movement. All artists researched must be represented with an image / painting during the power point presentation.
Poster Design
All 5 members will find a photograph of the painter they researched for the power point presentation and chose a key painting from the painter which will be used to create a 3’ x 6’ collage poster. This poster will be displayed during each individual team’s power point presentation. All team members will work together to arrange the design and layout of their team poster art. Furthermore, the team must create a design or font of their particular “ism or movement and draw it out on the poster collage art in the style of their particular movement.
Each team’s poster design must include :
10 Question Quiz
Within each team of 5 members, you will be assigned to research one of the listed Painters within each movement and the following 5 questions will be answered in addition to 5 more specific questions that relate to the specific movement. You will create a quiz with 5 true and false questions, 4 multiple-choice questions and one open ended question. During the quiz, the students will be allowed to study the poster design and use it as a reference.
At the end of each groups presentation to the visited school, I will administer a 30 question true and false quiz to all individual members of Teach Art Across America to ensure that all members were actively participating in the one hour 6 team presentation. As with the 10 question quiz, you will all be able to use each poster design as a reference for the quiz. It is important that each of the 6 teams learn about the other movements in the Teach Art Across America
