Map Maker's Checklist

Use this checklist as a guide for you to use while creating your map.

1. Read and print this rubric

2. Neatly print all of the information.

3. Check all of the words for correct spelling.

4. Color code and label the four regions.

5. Show and label a compass rose.

6. A key must include three things for each region.

7. A Key showing the symbols and what they represent.  For example: you might have a tree as the state forest, or a fish for a lake.

8. Label the following on the map in the correct places (remember you may always go back to the online map )

Trenton, Garfield, Lake Hopatcong, Delaware Bay, Delaware River, Delaware Water Gap, Kittatinny Mountains, Pinelands, Newark, Hudson River, High Point, Atlantic Ocean, Cape May, Paterson, and Camden.

9. Take a look at your pilot's log and add those points on your map.

9. Be creative you may try using clay or tissue paper for mountains, sand for the shore line, or put pine cones as a forest. Try to use some of your own ideas! Don't forget to HAVE FUN!
