| Goal: | The goal of this interactive website is to improve students understanding of life skills by showing the students the different types of careers they might like, what they need to study in order to have that career and the importance of doing well in high school. |
| Objectives: |
1. Students will
take a General Interest Survey developed by me. 2. Students will take a self-assessment survey regarding possible career choices. (Clifton School District has a specific site for their students.) They will complete a worksheet based on the information regarding their career choices. Graded with a teacher-prepared rubric. 3. Students will research 2 career objectives from the results of the self-assessment survey. The students will complete a graphic organizer/worksheet with specific information to identify specific needs for each one. Graded with a teacher-prepared rubric. 4. Students will search for 2 specific colleges for each one and will fill out a graphic organizer/worksheet with specific information to understand the differences in colleges. Graded with a teacher-prepared rubric. 5. Students will be introduced to the different entrance exams, financial aid and scholarships, including Fastweb. (http://www.fastweb.com) 6. Students will compare and contrast each of the careers and the necessary post-secondary studies from the use of the graphic organizers, worksheets and self-assessment survey results to develop a 10-slide PowerPoint slide presentation about their two possible careers. **If the students prefer a career in the military, it will be similar in procedure, but they will compare and contrast 2 branches of the military, so they will have a better understanding.
