"No knowledge is more crucial than knowledge about health.
Without it, no other life goal can be successfully achieved". (1)

The Governor of NJ has requested that you be involved with the Mission Nutrition task force.  You are an expert determined to make an impact and a difference.  The Mission Nutrition task force will educate the parents on the dangers of childhood obesity, and develop a state-of-the-art program on healthy nutrition, weight and exercise for children to build a healthy tomorrow

Childhood obesity is rising at alarming rates, and is now of epidemic proportions in the US.  “Over the past 30 years, the obesity rate has more than doubled for children aged 2-5, and  12-19.  It has more than tripled for children aged 6-11.  Approximately 9 million children over 6 are considered FAT or OBESE.” (2)

"Childhood obesity could cause life-long or life-threatening conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.  It is likely that most overweight children will grow up to be overweight adults.  Therefore, childhood obesity must be taken seriously by parents, teachers, and the medical profession." (3)

Parents, schools and government need to place a high priority on creating a healthy environment for long term health.  Healthy diet and exercise habits begin in childhood and play a very important role in curtailing obesity and promoting a healthy tomorrow.
