How to Use the Casablanca Editing Machine |
|
| *Casablanca is geared
toward entry level DV users, requiring broadcast quality
results. The system includes a 160 GB hard drive, a Pioneer DVD
writer, and DVD software. Recording time = 12 hrs.
The following instructions will lead you step by step from copying your DV tape to the editing machine to creating a broadcast quality DVD of your work. Step 1: Attach the DV cord from the machine to your camcorder.
Step 2: Turn both camcorder and editing machine on. Step 3: Click the Record button on the computer screen. A red button will appear on the next screen. Press play on the camcorder and then the red record button on the screen. *Important: You must play the camcorder first or nothing will record.
Step 4: Recording happens in real time. When the DV reaches the end of the section you wish to record, simply press stop on the computer screen. If it is the end of your DV tape, it will stop automatically.
Step 5: Click the home key in the bottom right corner of the screen. This will take you back to the main page.
Step 6: Click on the Edit button on the main page. Your selection will appear in the Scene Bin on the bottom of the screen. *You must do all editing in the Scene Bin.
Step 7: The editing buttons resemble VCR buttons. Click on the play button and your film will begin to play. Click stop when you reach a portion of the film that you would like to remove. Step 8: Click and drag the OUT bar below your film backwards or forwards until you reach the beginning of the material you would like to remove. Click the OK button. Your first scene has now been created and will automatically move up to the top of the screen.
Step 9: Click on the film in the scene bin again and drag the IN bar below the film to the end of the selection you just removed. This is now the start of your second scene. Click and drag the OUT button to the beginning of the next section to be deleted. Click OK. Your second scene will now move up to the top of the screen as well.
Step 10: Repeat step 9 until you reach the end of your tape, creating your film scene by scene. Step 11: The scenes in the record area on the top of the screen are now automatically joined together to create a seamless, broadcast quality DVD of your work.
Step 12: Insert a WRITABLE DVD into the DVD Drive in the front of the Casablanca machine.
Step 13: Click the home key in the bottom right corner of the screen to return to the main page. Click the Finish Button.
Step 14: Click on the Write DVD button on the top left of the screen. The machine will begin writing the DVD for you. When it is finished you will alerted and asked to click OK.
Step 15: Remove the DVD and check to see that there is information written on the disc. The disc should no longer be smooth. It should have rings of lines around the center.
Step 16: Congratulations! You have now produced your own DVD. Insert the DVD into a DVD player and view your work. |
