There has been trouble brewing in the Medical Surgical ICU at Amityville  Hospital.  One patient has died, and Mr.James Bernard, in the same ICU has contracted an infection; the commonality they share is the infectious organism that grew from their respective blood and sputum cultures: hospital-acquired Methicillin -Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).  You are a member of the Medical Surgical ICU nursing team. The primary nurses are different; the primary care physician is different. The patients are not known to one another. 

• How did this deadly, resistant infection spread?
• What can be done to prevent its spread to other patients?
• What plan of care is needed to ensure a positive outcome for this patient?
