1. In your group of 4, each of you will become an expert on a different layer of the rainforest.
2. Read a brief description of the 4 layers and choose one to explore.
3. Once you have chosen your layer, print one copy of the investigation log for each member of your team. Use this log to record your observations during the rainforest tour.
4. The animals below will serve as your guides during your rainforest adventure. When you click on the picture of your guide below, they will take you to some websites that you can explore for information about your layer.
5. After your exploration is complete, meet with your fellow team members. In a roundtable discussion, share your findings. Use the data organizer to help prepare for your newsletter publication. Collect additional information from your team members and record it on the data organizer. This organizer, along with your individual investigation logs should be turned in to your teacher.
6. When your group has completed the data organizer, you will use Microsoft Publisher to create your newsletter. The newsletter should consist of information relating to the destruction of each of the four layers. The newsletter should conclude with an action plan composed and accepted by the entire team. Your action plan should include tips for the general public to help prevent further destruction.
7. You will be scored based on your individual work and your contribution to the team. You can view the rubrics on the evaluation link.
