| Issue: In the world of softball, faster is better. The speed of a pitcher’s fastball, the quickness of a runner around the bases, and the efficiency of bat speed is essential to a team’s success. Unfortunately though, the question has recently arisen: Are the bats too fast? Are they too powerful in returning the ball after it has made connection? There have been numerous injuries to infielders and batters connected to the inefficiency of the bat. Too little reaction time has led to fielders being involved in serious injuries, even death. Should the bats have a restriction on their maximum velocity or does the increased speed make the game more competitive? |
| Softball Debate: Is advanced technology in bats connected to an increased number of injuries? Are the bats "too fast?" |
