"NURSING?! You mean, monkey-see, monkey-do? That's all hogwash! It's not a real profession. Hand-maidens for doctors are all they are! There is no way I'm approving an increase in the budget to support nursing schools as long as I'm governor! Between you and me, they don't need to go to school. Anybody can be a nurse!" states the current New Jersey Governor when asked by a reporter as to how he will meet the demands of the nursing shortage for the year 2010.
The New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA) is enraged by these derogatory remarks. They scheduled a meeting with the State Congress to present their case to them. They asked Dr. Burke, Director of the School of Nursing of Ramapo College to spearhead the campaign for more school funding to meet the challenge of the nursing shortage demands.
Your mission, if you wish to accept it, is to assist Dr. Burke in proving that nursing is a valid profession with its body of knowledge based on science and evidence-based practice. Dr. Burke assigned you the responsibility of presenting the grand theorists of nursing.
