Now, what you're job is going to be is to research a family that could have existed during the time of the Civil War in Concord, Massachusetts. However, not only will you research a type family, but you find out many things about their family, including, but not limited to, how that particular family helped the community just like the March family helped other families in need in the book.
The questions you will answer are:
Student A: What did your family "look like" (how many kids, were mom and dad around, did they have any pets, where they lived, etc.)?
Student B: What was the daily life like in your family?
Student C: What was your family's role to the community?
Student D: Who else in the community does your family's role affect and how?
Student E: How did they earn money to buy things?
During your research, you will find the answers to these questions and be able to use the answers to convince the class why your family should be Concord's "First Family."
The Jones family: A family of influence (a.k.a. wealthy) The Jones'
The McDermott family: An Irish immigrant family The McDermott's
The Thompson family: A family of farmers The Thompson's
