STEP 1 - You will be divided into groups of 3 students. Each member of your group will choose one of the following roles:

TRAVEL ADVISOR – Locate tourist attractions and cultural offerings, such as museums, that Mr. Washington might want to see in your state. 

FACT FINDER- Find facts about your state, such as the capital city, that might be of interest to Mr. Washington. 

MAPMAKER- Show Mr. Washington exactly where your state is located, and describe the kinds of geography present, such as rivers or mountains.

 

STEP 2 – Once you have picked your jobs, the travel agent will pick a state name out of the bucket on your teacher's desk.

 

STEP 3 – Click on your job name or picture below to begin your research on your selected state and learn all the details of your job.

STEP 4 -  Get together with your group members after everyone has completed their individual research. Now it is time to decide which information will persuade Mr. Washington to pick your state over the others. Use the travel brochure guide to help you organize and prioritize all of your information as you design your final project.  Your group will complete your travel brochure together.

 

STEP 5As a group, prepare to give an oral report using the information now in your travel brochure. Remember that your goal is to present your state as if it is the best one for Mr. Washington's visit.

 

STEP 6 - After completing the oral presentation, your group will compare and contrast your state with one of the other states that have been researched. Print out a copy of this Venn Diagram.
