Modes of learning:
For the Visual learner: The photographs of each site appeal to them, as well as the visual stimulus from the web site pictures. They benefit from taking notes and turning them into a persuasivc paragraph.
For the Tactile learner: These students will benefit from using the computer keyboard and mouse, skimming through the site information and being able to choose 3 and well as the more relaxed atmosphere of the computer lab.
For the Auditory learner: Students will benefit from the anticipatory set oral discussions as well as the video component of the sites. They will also talk about the information presented in the Mappler with classmates in the computer lab.
Sense and Meaning:
Through class discussions, inquiry and research students make sense of what is being learned regarding the historical sites in New Jersey. Students have experienced visiting various places in their state, even in their hometown of Ringwood. They have also learned about some of these places and events in our curriculum.
Students will find the historical sites and their content relevant to them since the unit fosters pride in their state. They will find some of the information familiar and they will learn more. Students will be encouraged to persuade others to visit in their role of Tour Guide.

Concrete Sequential learners benefit from the unit's fostering on individual responsibility, fact finding, use of computers and the task of creating a persuasive paragraph.
Concrete Random learners benefit from investigating and exploring historical sites in the less restrictive atmosphere of the computer lab, and creating a brochure.
Abstract Sequential learners will enjoy the opening discussion about NJ historical sites visited, the individual working at the computers and the decision making process of putting together the travel brochure.
Abstract Random learners will benefit from listening to and participating with classmates during the opening discussion, the informality of the computer lab, focusing on the individual tasks and completing them.
