Congratulations! You have looked at different types of governments, and analyzed them.  After identifying key elements you discussed which elements you wanted included in your new government.  Then you created a new government using information that you had found.  You may even have used some of your own original ideas.

Extentions

-Name some similarities between the “government” in The Giver and some of the governments you have researched.

-How much control should a government have?  If Jonas was monitored more closely would he have been happier? 

-Think about Jonas’s choice to leave.  Did his freedom from the rules of his society ultimately make him happy?  Is he better off now that he has left?

-What things should our government control?
