In these activities, you and your partner will have to choose a specific role. Your garden design needs to include at least one of each state trees, flowers and three historical trees. Your budget is $200. Finally, your group will share your design in a final presentation.

Process & Resources

As a team, all of you come up with a design map of the garden, using your data table information and arranging the plants in a pleasing manner. You must create the map in Inspiration and label each tree and flower.

Role: Accountant. The Accountant will have to use data from the State Trees and Flowers table provided by the Researcher.  The Accountant coordinates with his team how many trees and flowers should they buy in order to meet the budget. In order to do so, he/she fills out Budget Worksheet.

Role: Historian. The Historian looks for three trees currently present on the White House grounds that were planted by someone famous.  The Historian fills out the Historical Trees Data Table  (template provided).

Role: Researcher. The Researcher will have to research state trees and flowers for the states in the tri-state area of the United States Northeastern region: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut. The Researcher also finds out the year of legislation for these trees and flowers and inserts information into State Trees and Flowers Data Table.
