To accomplish your task you will be assigned to a team of three students and each member of your team will be pick one of three roles to play. The person in each role will research one specific topic. The roles are:

Scientist
Economist
Environmentalist

After each person has concluded the needed research, that person must develop their own opinion as to which type of power plant would be the best fit for the town. Once each person on the team has formed their own opinion, the team will then meet to form a consensus opinion on the type of power plant the town should construct.

Once your team has reached a consensus opinion, your team must create a presentation to persuade the town to vote the way you feel they should vote. Your method of presentation is up to the team. Some possible suggestions are:

1. A PowerPoint that you would give at a town meeting

2. Design a website where the residents can go to view your findings

3. Create a 5-10 minute documentary outlining your group's position that will air on local cable stations.

Other forms of presenting your findings are acceptable but they must be previously approved by your teacher.

All presentation forms must include the following:

1. The science of how your group's chosen power plant works

2. The economic benefits of your group's chosen power plant and the economic problems with the type of power plant your group didn't choose to recommend.

3. The environmental benefits of your group's chosen power plant and the environmental hazards with the type of power plant your group didn't choose to recommend.

In addition to your team's group project you must submit typed answers to each of your role's guided questions. This will count for one fifth of your final grade.

Once you have decided who is going to fill each role, use the links below to go to that role's homepage and begin to answer the guided questions for that particular role.
