Airport:  Any place on land or water designed to be regularly used by aircraft for takeoffs and landings, and includes associated buildings and facilities.

Air Terminal:  The buildings at the airport that house passenger services.

Air Traffic Control:  The system operated by the F.A.A.  (Federal Aviation Administration) for promoting safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic.  The primary obligation of ATC (Air Traffic Control) is to assure safe separation between IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) aircraft in controlled spaces.

AirTraffic Control Specialist:  (controller) An employee of the FAA working in control towers, ARTCCs, (AIr Traffic Control Center) and related FAA air traffic control facilities.

Air Traffic Control Tower: The central operations facility serving air traffic control in the airport area.  It consists of the tower structure and the tower cab that houses the radar and all other equipment needed to contact the airplane and pilot.

Baggage Claim:  The area of the airport where you would pick up your own luggage after a flight.  Look for the number and name of your flight on the marquee.  (sign)

Delay:  To make late or detain.

Departure: The flights that leave the airport.

Gate:  The passenger loading and unloading area at an air terminal.

International: Flight that travel between nations.

Parking Garage/Parking Area:  The area where visitors or passengers to the airport may park their vehicles for a price per hour,  daily, or weekly.

Ramp:  The parking apron and adjacent area on an airport, used for loading, unloading, and tiedown of the airplane.

Runway:  The portion of the airport designed for takeoffs and landings.

Skycap: A porter at an air terminal that helps the passengers check in their luggage.

Statistics: Numerical data assembled, classified, and tabulated so as to present significant information about a subject.

Taxiway:  Surfaces designed for the ground movement of aircraft.  Their load bearing capability is usually less than that of runways.
